Autumn Harvest Weekend
In a small community working together is second nature especially in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We are excited to celebrate our opening weekend on October 3rd. Our family has been working around the clock to get not only the pumpkin beds ready for you to come and harvest along side of us this October but also building up our facilities, organizing games and bringing in some baked goodies to have in our Seed Shack. Another group busy getting ready for the upcoming weeken

Homeschool Day at the Patch
Our family believes in the value of experiences and understands that learning in the real world can be so impactful for kids. Recently, homeschooling has grown exponentially in our area and in response to that we want to open our autumn harvesting to families that are seeking those hands-on learning adventures. Homeschool Day will be open to everyone on Friday October 9th from 10 am to 2 pm. This is a great day for families who do their learning at home or in co-ops to come a

Fun for Everyone
Besides the pumpkins, which are pretty essential for running a pumpkin patch, the first thing we decided to install on the site was our swing set. Kirk builds fences for a living and had come across some large metal pipe that we decided would make great material for a robust swing set. Before long, we had a large set of swings standing 15 feet tall overlooking the property. The kids all seem to enjoy the thrill of the swoop on the swings and several of our adult friends have

Changing Colors at the Patch
It is an exciting time at the Pumpkin patch as the fruit begins to pop out amongst the vines. We are seeing many of our carving pumpkins transforming from green to a gorgeous bright orange. The other fun thing has been to see the white pumpkins brighten up. The contrast between the green roaming vines and the crisp white fruit is crisp. Even the large Polar Bear pumpkins are making a bold statement when we drive by. It was a hot summer growing season. The plants would look ha

Sign Spotted Along Highway
Trying to find a rural attraction can sometimes be a challenge. To overcome that obstacle for the Blossome Ridge Pumpkin Patch we have had some hand-painted signs created locally. The first of these is officially up. The signs will lead you down the 1.5 miles of gravel to the pumpkin patch. We are thankful to Shirley for doing a wonderful job of bringing our sign idea to life. And we appreciate our neighbor allowing us to post this sign up on his property to make it easy to f

Growing Together
Part of our mission at the Patch at Blossom Ridge is to build community. We love the area we live in and bringing people together can be such a blessing. This summer we had a few different groups of neighbors and friends come out to help pull weeds in the pumpkin patch. In July, several young people came to work together to clear out bed #3. There was a lot of laughter, singing (of course we had music playing) and dirty gloves. After a few hours the kids had swept through the

New Seed Shack
One of our exciting additions at the Patch this year is our new Seed Shack. During the off-season we will use this as a storage building and keep some of next year's seeds safe until it's time to plant crops again. In the fall, this building will be the spot to come and visit as well as check out. We will have a small produce stand where you can easily browse and select from our wide variety of winter squash and pumpkins. When you come to the Patch this October stop in and ta
